About Our Farrier Services

Trained by Max Williams who is recognized as one of the top farriers in the world, and educated at one of the top horseshoeing schools in the world, Shur Shod Horseshoeing School, and certified by the Brotherhood of Working Farriers, Lawrence combines the best of modern knowledge and the years of experience that have been passed on to him.

Lawrence takes an an approach to horseshoeing that is best for the horse and the horse's health. He will not string a horse up to shoe him, and he will not make modifications to hooves that may cause long term injury to the horse. When a horse doesn't need shoes for protective or corrective reasons Lawrence will tell you so and trim the horse in a natural, barefoot trim appropriate for the horse.

Working closely with trainer Tammy Thompson of Blue Ridge Curlies, Lawrence can provide a full range of farrier services to unstarted, troubled and problem horses but if your horse falls in this group we must be informed when your appointment is booked.. Tammy, who is an exceptional trainer and equine behaviourist is also a certified equine and canine massage therapist, and assistant farrier.

Both Lawrence and Tammy make extensive efforts to update their knowledge and skill levels through confernces, seminars, and university level courses. Your horses welfare is our primary concern.
