There is a limited time in which a horses life that "corrective" shoeing can be effective. Correcting conformational flaws or birth defects using correctional shoeing is usually only effective until growth plates have closed. After that point we can shoe a horse to move better, make a horse more comfortable, and minimize other complications. This is therapeutic shoeing. this techniques can also be used to minimize the pain and discomfort caused by laminitis and prevent laminitis from developing into founder, or if the horse has foundered, prevent further rotation of the coffin bone.
We also perform hoof reconstruction for severely damaged hooves.
We will gladly work in cooperation with your vet to provide properly applied therapeutic shoeing techniques to your injured horse.
